About the job

Are you a talented communications professional who thrives on telling compelling stories, building strong relationships, and delivering impactful campaigns?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority (North East MSA) at a pivotal time, helping to shape and strengthen the organisation's identity, reputation, and influence across the region. Working closely with the Mayor’s Office, senior leaders, partners, and stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring our priorities, achievements, and ambitions are communicated clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.

As a Senior Communications Officer, you will lead the development and delivery of integrated communications and engagement campaigns that support some of the region’s most important strategic priorities. Using the full range of communications channels and techniques, including media relations, digital communications,

marketing, events, and stakeholder engagement, you will create high-quality campaigns that inspire, inform, and engage residents, partners, and decision-makers. You will also provide expert communications advice across the organisation, helping colleagues and leaders maximise their impact while protecting and enhancing the reputation of the North East MSA.

This is a varied and influential role for someone who combines strategic thinking with excellent delivery skills. You will work collaboratively with specialists and partners across the region and beyond, measure the impact of communications activity to demonstrate value and return on investment, and help promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning. In return, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference, contributing to the success of an organisation that is working to create a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous North East.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

If you are a creative and strategic communicator, skilled at building relationships, delivering successful campaigns, and influencing diverse audiences, we would love to hear from you.
