About the job

Help shape how the world sees Newcastle.

Newcastle City Council is preparing to welcome Europe as a Host City for UEFA EURO 2028 — and we’re looking for a talented Dressing and Wayfinding Officer to play a key role in bringing the city to life.

This is a rare opportunity to lead how Newcastle presents itself on the global stage. From vibrant city dressing to intuitive wayfinding that guides thousands of visitors, your work will ensure the city is welcoming, accessible and unforgettable.

About the role

This role is a fixed term position, until 30th September 2028. You will take a lead role in the planning and delivery of Newcastle’s Host City dressing and wayfinding programme, transforming the city’s streets, transport hubs and key locations into a cohesive and visually striking event environment.

Working across a wide range of partners, you’ll ensure visitors can navigate the city safely and confidently, while delivering a high-quality visual experience that reflects the pride, identity and ambition of Newcastle. You’ll oversee everything from signage strategies and installation planning to contractor management and compliance with UEFA requirements.

You’ll play a crucial role in shaping the spectator journey — making sure every route, sign and touchpoint works seamlessly as part of a world-class event experience.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who combines strong project delivery skills with a creative eye for how spaces are experienced. You’ll bring experience of delivering complex programmes in public or event settings, along with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and suppliers.

You’ll understand the importance of accessibility, safety and clear communication in busy environments, and be confident ensuring all activity meets required standards, guidelines and regulations. Organised, solutions-focused and calm under pressure, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by the opportunity to deliver something truly special — helping create a city experience that works effortlessly for everyone.

Why join us?

At Newcastle City Council, we’re proud, fair and ambitious. This role offers the chance to:

Be part of something bigger

This is more than a job — it’s your chance to help define how UEFA EURO 2028 looks and feels in Newcastle, creating a lasting impression for visitors and a legacy for the city.
