Fixed Term Maternity Cover from 1st October 2026 to 31 August 2027
St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School is seeking to appoint an exceptional and enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology to join our highly successful department on a maternity cover basis.
Design Technology is a thriving and increasingly popular subject within the school and has gone from strength to strength in recent years. At its heart, the subject encourages creativity, flair, and innovation, challenging pupils to transform ideas into purposeful and imaginative outcomes. Through a combination of design thinking, practical problem-solving and technical expertise, pupils develop the confidence to create, evaluate and refine their work to the highest standards.
The department is ambitious for every pupil and is committed to providing a rich and engaging curriculum that nurtures both creativity and academic achievement. Pupils are encouraged to think independently, take creative risks and develop the resilience, craftsmanship and attention to detail that underpin success in Design Technology and beyond.
We are seeking a talented and committed teacher who shares our passion for creative education and who can inspire pupils through engaging, challenging, and imaginative lessons. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge and the ability to foster curiosity, originality and pride in pupils’ work.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, ambitious and forward-thinking department where creativity is celebrated and high standards are expected. The successful applicant will work alongside supportive colleagues who are committed to securing outstanding outcomes for pupils and to the continued growth and success of Design Technology within the school.
As part of a 39-school Catholic Education Trust, colleagues benefit from exceptional professional support, extensive professional development opportunities and meaningful collaboration with subject specialists across the Trust. We are committed to nurturing talent and enabling teachers at every stage of their career to develop their expertise, broaden their experience and flourish as classroom practitioners and future leaders.
Whether you are an experienced teacher or at an earlier stage of your career, if you have the creativity, energy and commitment to inspire the next generation of designers, innovators and makers, we would be delighted to hear from you. Prospective applicants are warmly encouraged to visit the school and see first-hand the opportunities and strengths that make St Cuthbert’s such a rewarding place to teach
