Flexible work that fits around you

Looking for a role that offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a real difference in your community?

We're looking for Casual Technology Installers to support our Technology & Independence Service, helping local residents stay safe, independent and connected in their own homes.

This role is ideal for people looking for flexible, meaningful work, whether alongside another job, around family commitments, during retirement, or simply to earn some extra income. There are no guaranteed hours, giving you the freedom to work as much or as little as suits you by picking up available shifts.

Installations typically take place between 8:00am and 6:00pm, seven days a week, depending on customer needs, with opportunities available across these times.

About the role

Technology Enabled Care is transforming the way people live independently, and we're proud to deliver these services across South Tyneside.

As a Casual Technology Installer, you'll visit residents in their homes to install, test and maintain a range of Assistive Technology equipment. You'll help residents understand how their equipment works and ensure feel confident using it.

What we're looking for

You don't need specialist IT qualifications or a technical degree to do this role successfully. If you enjoy meeting people, solving practical problems and making a genuine difference to others, this could be the perfect role for you.

Full training provided

No previous experience in Technology Enabled Care is required. We'll provide all the training and support you need to carry out the role confidently and safely.

You'll also have opportunities to develop new skills and explore wider career opportunities within South Tyneside Council.

Make a difference when it suits you

This is more than just an installation role. Every piece of equipment you install helps someone live safely and independently in their own home. If you're looking for flexible work that fits around your life while making a real difference to local people, we'd love to hear from you.
