About the job

North East Museums is a regional museum, art gallery and archives service. We manage twelve museums and galleries across North East England and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this award-winning service; we are seeking to recruit a Visitor Experience Lead to provide maternity leave cover for our three sites in Northumberland. This is a fixed term role from 01.08.26 to 01.06.27. These dates are subject to change.

The venues the role will support are Woodhorn Museum, Hexham Old Gaol and The Morpeth Bagpipe Museum. Hexham Old Goal is open to the public on a seasonal basis so support required at this site can vary across the year.

We are seeking an experienced manager with a proven track record of leading a high performing customer service team. You will demonstrate excellent people management skills and will have a proven track record of managing performance.

You will also have experience of managing complex buildings as you will need to ensure we meet the varied business needs to satisfy both customers, staff and partners. This role is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, flexible and multi-skilled manager to contribute to the success of our organisation.

As the role will require you to support a range of different locations excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills are needed. The role would require you to work at different sites regularly in line with our agile working policy to meet business needs.

Further details about the role and the essential criteria needed by prospective candidates are detailed in the accompanying job description and person specification.
