Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

North East Regional Employers Organisation (NEREO) is committed to making www.northerndigitaljobs.org.uk accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to www.northerndigitaljobs.org.uk.

Using this website

This website has recently been rebuilt on a new, purpose-built design. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • navigate the whole site using a keyboard alone;
  • navigate using voice-recognition software;
  • listen to the site using a screen reader (including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver);
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen;
  • read the content in a clear, consistent layout with strong colour contrast.

The site also offers a light and a dark display theme. The site follows your device’s light or dark setting automatically, and you can switch between the two at any time using the lightbulb control in the site header. Your choice is remembered for future visits. Both themes have been designed and tested to meet the same contrast and readability standards.

The vacancy map on the home page is a decorative visual aid. All of the information it presents — the job title, employer, salary, contract type, working pattern and closing date — is also available as plain text in the vacancy list directly beneath it and on each individual job page, so no information is conveyed by the map alone.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability, at https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/.

How accessible this website is

We believe this website is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard.

The site has been built and audited against this standard. As part of the rebuild we addressed the issues identified in our previous statement, including the implementation of ARIA landmarks and labelling throughout the site, and we carried out a full accessibility review covering:

  • colour contrast for all text and interface components, in both the light and dark themes;
  • visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements;
  • full keyboard operability, including the navigation menus and the vacancy filters;
  • a “skip to content” link at the top of every page;
  • correct heading structure and landmark regions for screen-reader navigation;
  • form labels and accessible names on all controls, including the search box and the theme switch;
  • touch targets that meet the minimum recommended size;
  • support for the “reduced motion” setting in browsers and operating systems;
  • text that can be resized and reflowed without loss of content or function.

Non-accessible content

We are not currently aware of any content that fails to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

Some job advert content is supplied to us by recruiting employers and is published in their words. While the site presents this content in an accessible structure, we cannot always guarantee the accessibility of wording or any external documents and links contained within an individual advert. If you encounter a specific advert that is difficult to use, please contact us using the details below and we will help.

Feedback and contact information

If you need information on this website in a different format, or you find any problem that is not listed on this page, or you think we are not meeting the requirements of the accessibility regulations, please contact us.

Any feedback relating to the accessibility of the site should be directed to NEREO via our contact form on this site, linked here – https://www.northerndigitaljobs.org.uk/contact-us/.

We will consider your request and aim to respond within a reasonable period.
